With over a decade of experience creating tutorials, explainer videos, and product overviews for tech companies looking to communicate with B2B and B2C audiences. Mummu Studio could be depended upon to handle all of Square’s tutorial requirements. 

Our team of experts immersed themselves in Square’s products and software, learning all the ins and outs so that they were best positioned to write clear and effective step-by-step tutorials.

Managing a substantial workload, it was crucial to streamline the process for Square. Mummu’s team, comprising project managers and animators, collaborated closely with various departments at Square to establish a seamless and efficient workflow for an ongoing series of tutorial projects.

This involved the full spectrum of Mummu’s service offering and production process: script writing, design, storyboarding, animation, voiceover, and localisation.

For each film to represent diversity Mummu would present different character options to the agency and client, enabling a choice of various key features, such as clothing and colour options.

Once the character had been decided and the final script received, through storyboarding and development, Mummu created a narrative for each film which enabled the lead character to guide us through their working day specific to the job role and sector Samsung wanted to highlight, showcasing the benefits of the Knox Suite and it’s products.

Although there is an established overall illustration style, with every new brief the agency creatives task Mummu to add variety to each case study film, making each feel unique to their message. We have achieved this by using different animation techniques, styles and devices for storytelling such as: combining 2D and 3D animation, enabling us to add depth, moving cameras through illustrated environments; using motion graphics techniques, allowing us to transition between characters in their environment to devices POV with stylised animated UI’s and titles.

Localisation and Voiceover to target different markets

Iris made full use of Mummu Studio’s services, requiring us to source, produce and record voices for all case study films. For each film we would provide a shortlist of non-regional American male or female voice artists for the client to choose from, based on their brief. The chosen talent would be recorded remotely in a professional session giving the agency creatives the opportunity to listen in and feedback live on the session.

Following on from the success of the original Knox for e-Newspaper case study animation – Samsung looked to extend the reach of each campaign targeting different brands via YouTube & LInkedIn in key EU as well US markets. This required Mummu Studio to adapt and develop a workflow to deliver multiple versions of each film with tailored graphics, scripts, and localised voice overs.

Delivery

Finally, films were delivered in custom formats for each platform, according to each output’s specifications. These include embedded or separate subtitles, file size specific for each platform and key still frames for thumbnails, as well as a high quality low compressed file for archiving.
